Unit goals for the year
Replace positions empty after vacated through recent retirements.
Consider the e-resources cataloging question: if the library decides to work on improving access to e-resources (which many consider to be needed badly, due to lower-quality metadata supplied by vendors) this would have a major impact on our workload and procedures.
More directed effort toward harmful language remediation – possibly through HLRWG?, possibly through HLR working group. It would also be useful to develop a way to track these efforts systematically.
Continue adapting to FOLIO releases!
Reconfigure some reporting lines to make Head of CMS more sustainable – so many people reporting to that position.
Unit tasks for the year
Update Folio may offer a way to streamline the workstats procedure.
Centralize project tracking and documentation in Confluence (clean-up work, harmful language, etc.) to make available a reliable pool of remote work.
Create more efficient take-home processRegular updates for CMS on…cat stats? What Head of CMS has been up to? ; the spreadsheets are cumbersome. This may involve multiple Google folders: one location to post picture of the work you took home; then move the picture to another folder when the materials are back in the library. Ruth Ann mentioned an image-capture and editing program called SnagIt - SnagIt editor which can be used to add a text box to an image (i.e. your name and date items were taken home from library.)
MSU has a campus-wide site license for SnagIt & SnagIt editor; download through techstore.msu.edu. Ruth Ann has used it a lot and is happy to assist.
Regular updates for CMS on…cat stats? What Head of CMS has been up to? Yes there is interest in hearing a bit about what the head of CMS does! This morphed into a conversation about people feeling isolated sometimes, both from remote work and fewer people in TS offices when working on site. Interest expressed in adding round robin time to meetings and reviving the monthly Food Day in TS.

AD search update – . The search committee has concluded its work and sent a report to the Dean; no clear idea on timeline, but hoping for news soon– hurray! But we still don’t expect news for a couple of weeks yet. Neil makes the final call; there may be salary or other negotiations to complete; a lot of HR documentation before anything can be made public. Sit tight…
SPC cataloging with new temp loc and process – any questions?
