Correct workstat codes are essential for gathering Tech Services statistics. Insert a workstat whenever creating an item or bibliographic record.
Whenever possible, use automated means like a macro, text string, or constant data in OCLC to create the 949 workstat string before exporting (additional info about command elements in the 949 string can be found in the 949 commands procedure). Workstats may also be edited or inserted in the Sierra item record "w" field.
