Summary: DRAFT procedure for processing of ROVI DVDs and Blu-Rays received after the original archive donation in 2015. Generally, these are materials published after December 2014. 

This procedure is being drafted as of October 2018 and is not to be utilized until announced.


Things to know

  • Some items will be new to the library, others will be Rovi adds to existing locations (e.g. DMC). Either way, records should be evaluated along the rubric below.

  • Some records will be acquired as copy from OCLC and will include OCLC numbers in 001 and 035.

  • Other records will be generated with automation and will lack OCLC numbers. These are known as Phase 3 records. They are still be evaluated along the same rubric as OCLC copy.

Adds

  • Adds will be identified by finding MULTI locations in the bib (RV and another location; RV will be the added location).
  • Records for adds should be evaluated along the same rubric as the Cataloging step below, to ensure that the Rovi piece has been added to a matching record.

Cataloging

Review bib record for each piece

  • Search each piece by UPC code in Sierra (i ISN index).
  • Check for matches, discrepancies, and make small edits as instructed.
  • Send all flagged pieces to NEWROVI problem shelves.

Flag if there is a discrepancy between number of pieces (e.g. videodiscs)

Flag if substantive accompanying material is omitted from $e (e.g. a booklet of 10 or more pages)

Flag any other significant discrepancies

Create a 'w' field in the variable fields of the item record with appropriate workstat code:

Processors:

Copy Catalogers:

Original Catalogers:

For all unflagged, cataloged pieces:

  • Place pieces in video boxes until filled.
  • Deliver filled video boxes to CatMan.
