CMS ad hoc projects

Summary: Projects for CMS team members that can be worked on intermittently and as time permits. Many of these projects are suitable for remote work.

Overview

Running projects for catalogers are tracked on the CMS team's Planner board. Each project card contains the necessary details for completing work on that project (in other words, instructions live in Planner, rather than in Confluence). When a project is complete, its card will be moved out of the available column.

How to work on a project
  1. Visit the Planner board
    1. Link above or via Teams channel
  2. Consult the "Available to anyone" column
  3. Note any priority flags and give preference to highest priority projects
  4. Assign yourself to the desired project
    1. Click the card for the project
    2. Click "Assign to"
    3. Enter your email

This helps managers know which projects are actively being worked on.

Expectations & priorities

  • Generally, there is no deadline or firm time frame for any of these projects
  • Catalogers should feel free to work on them as regular duties allow, especially for remote work days
  • These projects do not necessarily take priority over formal assignments but should still receive regular attention
    • Especially FOLIO-related projects!
  • At times, catalogers may be assigned to specific projects by managers
  • Check in with your supervisor if you're unclear about how much time to devote to ad hoc projects
