Withdraw Government Documents from the Catalog (draft)
Summary:
OCLC Bibliographic records need to be retained in the catalog when a title is withdrawn. Periodically a file of these records will be compiled to remove the OCLC holdings. Records with no attached holdings and item records are deleted from the catalog. Catalog Maintenance will handle this process for all staff.
The bibliographic withdrawal steps to suppress FOLIO bib records are for single-location bib records only. Show Lost & Paid (L&P) and billed items to a trainer.
Withdrawing from multi-volume records is a similar process except that instance records are not deleted or suppressed, and the OCLC serial LHR holdings have to be updated. When needed, ask for assistance when withdrawing from multi-volume records.
See below section for instructions on withdrawing Committed to Retain items.
All withdrawals need to be checked for order records before the instance record can be withdrawn.
