Poppy approacheth
Poppy Dry Run environment available Friday 7/19 (early morning - possibly before we arrive for work).
All testing in Dry Run should be concluded by Tuesday 7/23
If all goes well, we’ll approve and move forward with updating Production.
Service patch 6 has been added to our test environment already. Dry Run environment will have slightly more updated data - they reproduce production to create Dry Run.
Please take some time Friday-Tuesday and play around with Dry Run and let Autumn know if you encounter any issues.
Poppy installed to Production early Friday morning, 7/26 - barring an act of God.
Begin using new 949 on this day
Catalog harvests for VuFind will be paused from 7/26 - 7/29 (watch for more details from Devin Higgins and/or CDAWG)

Will be
E-resources working group
AD posting & search
Checking in on those impacted by Crane Days
Where we stand with Poppy
the months of the move, since they can’t accept newly cataloged materials
CatMan will be creating tags and an Aeon ingest spreadsheet
Projected to be mid-August through October
This will likely impact Turfgrass Beard materials
E-resources working group
This group is looking at the feasibility of including MARC records for purchased e-resources in our catalog
In the past, we used Serials Solutions to help us automate maintenance of e-resource records in FOLIO Inventory
Tech Services and Public Services staff on this group
Report coming up in the fall, plan to share the results of our survey
Deliver a recommendation to the new AD
Outcome for this group – some e-resources cataloging may end up being absorbed into CMS workflows
Details aren’t settled; conversation is ongoing
AD posting & search
Posting has gone out, application period closes July 12
Autumn and Lan are on the search committee, Autumn is co-chairing with Arlene
CMS team members are invited to think about issues that are important for interview processes, Autumn would be glad to hear any thoughts you have by mid-July or so
Checking in on those impacted by Crane Days
Everybody is ok here
Where we stand with Poppy
Most recent issue is with Data Import; MARC SRS record status problem that results in a disassociated record situation
This has delayed our upgrade again
We know Poppy is needed for various workflows, but the issues have been too significant to move forward
Question – how widespread is the problem?
Depends. Can be just a few records per load, but other test loads had about half of their records impacted.

1. CMS/TS updates
Interim roles for Joshua and Autumn concluding as planned in August
Technical Services AD position posting and timeline
New conception of AD position adds Collections budget/planning oversight as well as Conservation/Preservation unit
Steve’s retirement prompted reorg of collections work/reporting
Liaisons now report through collections coordinators, so much of Steve’s work has been distributed to other areas, will not be included in this AD’s portfolio
Janice Ahee retiring, last day 6/25
Congratulations Janice! Thanks for all your important contributions especially re: the Arsenal collection.
Plans for cataloging Special Collections materials during their move, timelines, etc.
Usual workflows of cataloging for SPC will be disrupted during the move (they will be unable to shelve and tag new cataloging)
Joshua, Leslie, Nicole, Autumn, Lisa E., and others working on a plan to temporarily take over storage and tagging of cataloged SPC materials
Conversation is ongoing, details will be firmed up later in the summer
This will occur between August and October
RDA Phase 1 training update
Library of Congress beginning their rolling adoption of the new RDA, so a CMS group (Tim, Nicole, Autumn, Joshua) is keeping tabs on this implementation and viewing all training materials being produced
This first set of modules is focused more on theory and less on day-to-day practice
No immediate action planned for CMS on this front; just be aware that new RDA training is being developed and our RDA group is watching these to get a sense of next steps
E-resources working group update
Some context:
In Sierra, e-resource records were loaded and continuously updated
When we migrated to FOLIO, system limitations at that time made it impossible to load e-resource records
The E-resources Working Group (EWG) is revisiting this question now that FOLIO functionality has progressed
Progress so far:
Benchmarking with other institutions, survey deployed and responses gathered
Expect to have a recommendation for EC and the new AD in the fall
