• LTxt with an appropriate value (e.g., f for Fiction, for a novel on disc ; or z for Other)
• the correct date (usually type s for a single date, or type p for original date plus date of production)

Variable fields

• 050/090: For compact discs, as of Fall 2019 use an LC number followed by Audio CD (e.g., PG3366 |b.V62 2013 Audio CD). Leave space between Audio and CD. For other types of disc, such as LPs, use Audiodisc (e.g., E743 |b.B43 2005 Audiodisc).

• 300 field uses the term audio disc (e.g., 6 audio discs)

• 336: spoken word |b spw |2 rdacontent
• 337: audio |b s |2 rdamedia
• 338: audio disc |b sd |2 rdacarrier

• 500 or a 538 field with the type of disc. The most common term will be Compact disc.

• 655 field (genre):
  • For someone reading a book aloud, use 655 _7 Audiobooks. |2 lcgft

Processing

• For multi-disc sets, include an 866 _0 field. (e.g., disc 1-disc 6).

• If each disc is in a separate case, the volume field for each item record would read: disc 1, disc 2, etc. If all six discs are in the same case, the volume field would read: discs 1-6.

• If possible, leave the audio discs in their original packaging. Attach a yellow stickie with the location and call number and put on the non-print labeling shelf in Catalog Maintenance.
