Non-print (gov docs)

Summary: Procedure with instructions on the treatment of non-print supplements whose primary piece is in Government Documents.

CD/DVD cases

All CD's and DVD's for Government Documents are stored in jewel cases. VideoDVD's should NOT be put in videoDVD cases. When shelved in DMC these are all filed in the same cabinet so they have to be the same size.

LC call number labels

Type DMC-GD above Government Document LC call numbers. This includes all International and Michigan digital media materials. If writing the call number on a yellow stickie, include DMC-GD as the location.

U.S. and Canadian materials (SuDocs numbers) do NOT have DMC-GD typed or written above the call numbers.

Bibliographic location field

Only place “gd” in the bibliographic location field for Government Document digital media materials. It has been decided that we are not putting “dm” in the bibliographic location field for these materials. These are government document materials that are housed in the DMC Library.

Circulation

No 7-day circulation restrictions are placed in item records for government documents digital media materials. The length of circulation for these materials is the same as MSU paper books that circulate depending on patron's status.

866/867 MARC holding fields

The 866/867 fields are formatted as in the example below.

               Example:
