Summary: This procedure outlines the set-up of FOLIO holdings and item records for new standing order serials where "Recent unbound issues arranged by title" needs to be displayed to the public in EDS/VuFind.

Currently, EDS does not display serial Folio item records but instead displays serial Folio holdings record (a decision we made in order to display holdings statements). When serials are on standing order with recent unbound issues arranged by title in one location of the MSU Libraries (ex. Popular Journals & Magazines) but once bound is shelved in another location of the MSU Libraries (ex. Remote Storage), the Folio holdings and item records must be set-up like so:

Unbound location holding recordBound location holding record
Call number type = other schemeCall number type = Library of Congress classification
Call number = Recent unbound issues arranged by titleCall number = [LC classification in 050/090]
Holdings statement public note = Recent unbound issues arranged by titleOpen holdings statement (if standing order)
Under holdings notes add note type of "external note' = Recent unbound issues arranged by title

Loan type =*Do not add an item record until first run of issues are bound
