Media purchasing

Summary: This page describes special procedures for ordering audiovisual materials.

Use copies for expensive orders

  • When inputting order records for VHS, DVD, CD or other media format, add the following receiving note for prices of $300 and over: “Give to DMC to make use copy”

  • A note is needed for the receiver to flag the piece so DMC is aware that a use copy is needed.

    • New Yorker Films

    • Insight Media

    • Films for the Humanities and Science

    • Films Media Group

  • When one of these vendors is used for a film purchase, enter this note: “Purchased with performance rights from _(fill in the blank)_”

  • If the vendor is not on this list, but the selector has included performance rights information on the order, transfer the written note into the receiving note field.

  • A note is needed for the receiver to flag the piece & have performance rights information added to the item record at the cataloging step.
