Course reserves
Summary: Procedure details specialized steps to be followed in the cataloging of items for Course Reserves
When a title is ordered for course reserves in the main building (MNRES) but the bib record for that title includes a call number that results in shelving in another location, the cataloger should catalog the title for its ultimate shelving location:
- titles ordered for MNRES that class in the M call number range should be cataloged for MU
- titles ordered for MNRES that class in the N or TR call number ranges should be cataloged for AR
NOTE: In the past, this practice also held true for MNRES titles with a K call number, which were previously sent to Business. As of October 2024, K call numbers not specifically ordered for a Business Library location will remain at the Main Library.
The location MNRES should then be noted on the yellow course reserves streamer so staff in Catalog Maintenance will send the piece to course reserves in main.
When the title is no longer needed on reserve, Course Reserves staff will send it to the ultimate shelving location for the piece. The course reserve software updates the catalog record to reflect the appropriate location.
