Protected collection (MNPRO)

Summary: Procedure for specialized cataloging treatment of resources for the protected collection (MNPRO).

These are books which the health sciences bibliographers have determined could be more vulnerable to theft. They must receive some additional stamps/markings from CatMan, Some will also go to a protected location. All such books will carry a dark green streamer. Reserve books in this category will also carry a yellow streamer.

• If streamer says mnpro:

  • use this code as the item record location

  • oversize books receive the same treatment (no oversize location or stamp)

  • leave streamer(s) in book and place on "other location" shelf in CatMan (the same shelf as for Business, Art, etc.) for labeling/barcoding
     

• In all other cases:

  • use mn as location

  • don't apply stamp

  • leave streamer(s) in book and place on appropriate truck for labeling/barcoding
